Gani Adams to Stand by Igboho in N500m Legal Battle, his Aide Says

The case of defamation of character against Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, was filed by Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, on Thursday at an Oyo State High Court in Ibadan.

This legal action was a response to a previous threat by Igboho to sue Adams over alleged accusations of plotting an assassination.

Kehinde Aderemi, Adams’ Special Assistant on Media, commented on the matter, stating, “Iba Gani Adams was never served any process. The legal team of Aare Onakakanfo will handle the matter. Immediately we receive court process, there will be a response.”

In response to a viral voice note, where Adams allegedly implicated Igboho in a purported assassination plot orchestrated by the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, Igboho demanded a retraction and an apology through his legal representatives.

Igboho, as per the writ of summon presented in Ibadan, is seeking various declarations and orders against Adams concerning the defamatory content aired in the audio clip published on multiple media platforms.

Among Igboho’s demands are public retractions, removal of defamatory content from all platforms, a formal apology in national newspapers, and a permanent injunction against Adams from any further defamation.

Additionally, Igboho is seeking N500 million in exemplary and aggravated damages, along with N10 million for litigation costs.
