Ganduje Asserts Leadership Amid APC Crisis

Asserting his position, Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, maintains that he is still the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, following the nullification of his suspension by his ward executives.

A Federal High Court in Kano, presided over by Justice A. M Liman, issued an order halting Ganduje’s suspension on Thursday.

The court directed all respondents and their representatives to refrain from carrying out the decisions made during the APC executive meeting at Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area on April 15, 2024, pending the resolution of a lawsuit filed by Ganduje to protect his fundamental rights.

Justice Liman called for maintaining the status quo before the alleged emergency meeting of the APC ward’s executive members.

Granting a motion ex parte filed by Ganduje for the protection of his right to a fair hearing, the judge issued the order.

Expressing his gratitude, Ganduje commended the party’s executive members and ward officials from Ganduje Ward for their disassociation from the supposed scheme to oust him from the party’s leadership and membership.

He attributed the situation to the strategy of Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, aimed at undermining the APC in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections and other electoral competitions.

The APC national chairman remarked, “The incursion into our political party by the NNPP government of Kano is clearly an attempt to dismantle our party.”

“Their primary focus underscores their failures within the first year of office, evident from the economic downturn in Kano State, escalated political unrest, and the erosion of political integrity in the region,” he added.
