Further Asset Seizure Possible for Nigeria’s Presidential Jets, Ekpa Suggests

Amidst the ongoing controversy over a French court’s decision to grant a Chinese firm the authority to seize three presidential jets owned by the Nigerian Government, Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa has speculated that more Nigerian assets could be subject to seizure by the United States Government.

The recent court order allowed the Chinese company, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, to take possession of a Dassault Falcon 7X, an Airbus A330-243, and a Boeing 737-7N6/BBJ that belong to the Nigerian Government.

Zhongshan, the company whose contract with the Ogun State Government was terminated in 2016, sought intervention from the French court in a contractual dispute with the state government, leading to the ruling to seize the three aircraft belonging to Nigeria.

In response to these developments, Ekpa, also referred to as the Prime Minister of Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, shared on his X microblogging account that there is a possibility of additional Nigerian assets being seized by the United States.

Ekpa claimed to have held discussions with U.S. officials regarding the asset seizures, emphasizing that if President Bola Tinubu and the government do not desist from seeking his extradition from Finland, he would consider involving “friends” in Washington DC to secure more assets seizures.

Meanwhile, the Chinese firm announced that it had returned one of the three presidential jets to the Nigerian Government on Friday.
