Funke Akindele excites movie lovers with ‘A Tribe Called Judah’

The latest film from Funke Akindele, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ was premiered at the Filmhouse Cinema IMAX, Lekki, Lagos, on December 10th, 2023, much to the delight of movie enthusiasts. The star-studded event, themed as ‘Costume Party Extravaganza,’ was a colorful affair with attendees dressed in glamorous outfits, including the center of attention, Funke Akindele, who looked like a fairytale princess in her golden ensemble.

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, also known as Captain Degzy, the film narrates the story of a group of boys who plan to rob a mall to raise money for their mother’s hospital bill, only to encounter armed robbers at the scene. Funke Akindele mentioned that the movie is dedicated to her late mother, Dr. Adebanjo Akindele, and addresses the challenges faced by single parents and mothers in society.

Akindele emphasized that the film tackles stigmatization against women who have children out of wedlock and also sheds light on rebellious children. She believes that nurturing their talents can lead them to greatness. The movie aims to represent a diverse range of people and to showcase the African reality and struggles.

Funke Akindele expressed her commitment to selecting a talented and disciplined cast for the movie, including Nse Ikpe Etim, Timini Egbuson, and Uzor Arukwe, among others. She admitted to facing pressure to outdo herself but reminded herself to do her part and leave the rest to God.
