FRSC blames speed violation as 14 people die in Bauchi crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi has laid the blame for the death of 14 people in a crash on speed violations. The tragic incident occurred at Zangoro Village along Bauchi-Darazo Road in the Darazo Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, resulting in five others sustaining varying degrees of injuries. Sector Commander Yusuf Abdullahi confirmed the occurrence, revealing that the crash involved two vehicles – a yellow Golf 3 Wagon with number plate AJ-507 GWA and an ash Chevrolet with plate 15B-07BA registered to the Bauchi State Government. The total of 19 people involved included 10 female adults, seven male adults, one female child, and one male child. Tragically, 14 individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, comprising two male adults, 10 female adults, one male child, and one female child. Speed limit violation was identified as a potential cause of the accident, and the authorities recovered N73,000, seven mobile phones, a power bank, and four small handbags from the crash site. The deceased have been placed in the ATBUTH morgue, while the injured are receiving treatment in the hospital.
