FRSC advises drivers to disregard passengers’ influence for overspeeding during Easter

In a recent announcement, the Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has recommended that drivers should not yield to the demands of passengers who try to persuade them to overspeed by claiming urgency.

According to a report by NewsNow, Paul Okpe, the FRSC State Sector Commander, mentioned that such passengers can also contribute to road accidents and should be disregarded.

This advice was imparted by Okpe during a road show organized as part of efforts to raise awareness among road users about the importance of prioritizing safety on the roads.

The sector commander emphasized the importance of motorists and other road users adhering to traffic laws and regulations to ensure their safety during the Easter period.

Highlighting the necessity of this sensitization due to the behavior of drivers in the state, Okpe stressed that being alive is essential in order to celebrate.

Before starting any journey during this season, it is crucial to inspect your vehicle to confirm the good condition of components like brakes, lights, fire extinguisher, and tires.

While driving, compliance with traffic regulations such as wearing seat belts, avoiding speeding, overloading, reckless driving, and violations of designated routes is imperative. Celebrating with loved ones is possible when you prioritize safety.

Encouraging motorists to maintain moderate speeds and show respect for fellow road users, he stressed the importance of being alive for the festive season celebrations.

The FRSC plans to deploy personnel and officers across the state to ensure a smooth and incident-free celebration.

Additionally, there was an appeal to stakeholders to assist the FRSC in reducing road accidents, especially during festive seasons, to ensure that travelers reach their destinations safely.
