Free Ride Offered on Port Harcourt-Aba Railway by Nigerian Government

Announcement has been made by the Federal Government regarding a complimentary passenger train journey on the recently restored Port Harcourt to Aba railway route.

The statement was made on Tuesday evening by Oloruntola Oluremi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, as reported by The Nation.

It was mentioned that the free train ride offer will be available for four days, beginning from May 1 to May 4.

The official statement mentioned, “A free train ride will be offered between Port-Harcourt and Aba from the 1st to the 4th of May 2024.

“The train will depart from Port-Harcourt daily at 8am bound for Aba. Similarly, it will depart from Aba daily at 3pm returning to Port-Harcourt. Regular commercial services will resume on Tuesday, May 7, 2024”.

In a recent development, the Minister of Senator Said Alkali inaugurated the Port Harcourt-Aba rail line operations post-rehabilitation on Tuesday.

Alkali, while addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony, emphasized that this initiative is part of the Federal Government’s dedication to enhancing commerce and transportation ease.
