Former Senate Whip Ndume Turns Down New Office Assignment

The Senator representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Ali Ndume, has refused to accept a new office that was designated for him by the Senate Services Committee.

As per parliamentary norms, Ndume was expected to relocate to a different office following his removal as the Whip of the Senate.

It has been reported that Ndume was instructed to vacate his present office and move to the third floor to make room for the new Whip, Senator Tahiir Mongonu, to assume his office.

In response to being assigned a new office on the third floor, Ndume, in a letter directed to the Chairman of the Senate Services Committee, Senator Sunday Karimi, expressed that the given office does not match his level of seniority and esteemed status at the Senate.

The letter, signed by his Chief Confidential Secretary, Shuaibu Gawu, stated, “I am instructed to convey that the Honorable Senator Mohammed All Ndume has declined the assignment of office number 3.10 by the Committee.

“This is due to offices typically being allocated based on seniority.”

The letter further mentioned, “Senator Ndume, being the most Senior Senator after Senator Ahmad Lawan, will only inhabit an office on the fourth floor.”

It is worth noting that Ndume was recently relieved of his position as Chief Whip of the Senate in a letter issued by the All Progressives Party and co-signed by the Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
