Former President Obasanjo Warns of Dire Consequences for Officials in Buhari’s Government

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has raised serious concerns about corruption within the Buhari-led government, suggesting that many officials would face both jail time and damnation if investigated. He made these remarks in an interview with BBC Yoruba, where he also compared his former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, with President Buhari in terms of leadership capabilities.

In the interview, Obasanjo stated, “What I am saying is that where we are today, our present situation, if you look at those who are there today and our boss, I insist that Atiku will do better than them. This is not a prophecy. Those in government today, if we expose them, all of them will enter hell; they will not only go to jail. They will go to hell. Whoever that God does not expose his sins to the public is the person whose secret is kept.”

Expanding on his criticism, he accused President Buhari of nepotism, highlighting the president’s reluctance to appoint individuals from other tribes to sensitive positions, citing a lack of trust. Obasanjo expressed skepticism about the president’s expectation for trust and support from tribes he does not trust with appointed roles.

It’s worth noting that Obasanjo has been openly critical of President Buhari’s administration, having written open letters and openly campaigned against him during the 2019 presidential election.
