Former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, and Others to Appear in Court Arraignment on Thursday by EFCC

It has been revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will arraign former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama on Thursday.

Sirika, who served as a minister during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, is facing a six-count amended charge.

Joining him in the arraignment are three others, including his daughter Fatima, Jalal Hamma, and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, all accused of abusing their office in connection with N2.7 billion.

The investigation carried out by the EFCC on the financial misconduct allegedly perpetrated by the ex-minister, “including deceptive contracts awarded during his time in office,” resulted in his detention in Abuja on April 23.

Following alleged fraudulent practices associated with contracts while he was in office, Sirika was summoned by the Abuja Zonal Command of the Commission and was subsequently interrogated and detained at the Formella Street, Wuse 2 Zonal office of the Commission.

“The former minister (Sirika) was summoned for questioning in relation to suspected contract scams during his tenure in the ministry. He complied with the summons and is currently in detention,” as disclosed by an anonymous source within the EFCC to NAN.

The source further mentioned that the EFCC had been examining the alleged contract violations during the ex-minister’s term and that he had met with investigators before his detention.
