Former AGF, Mohammed Adoke released from EFCC custody

Mohammed Adoke, the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has been released from EFCC’s custody after appearing before a Federal High Court in Abuja to face new charges of money laundering.

Adoke, who was arrested on December 19, 2019 upon his return to Nigeria from self-imposed exile, was granted bail by Justice Binta Nyako after his arraignment before the court on February 10.

Following the disclosure from his counsel Mike Ozekhome that Adoke had fulfilled the conditions of a previous bail granted by Gwagwalada Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Justice Binta ordered his release.

Adoke, along with co-defendant Aliyu Abubakar, accused of depositing a dollar equivalent of N300m into Adoke’s account, left the court in Ozekhome’s car at around 3.15pm.
