Flutterwave, MTN, PalmPay, others among CNBC World’s Top Fintech Companies 2024


Flutterwave has been named among the top 250 fintech companies in the world by CNBC in partnership with market research firm Statista.

The World’s Top Fintech Companies 2024 report by the American business news channel includes companies across a variety of different market categories.

Seven African firms made the list: Flutterwave (Nigeria/US) – Payments; Kuda (Nigeria/UK) – Neobanking; MTN (South Africa) – Payments; PalmPay (Nigeria) – Payments; Piggyvest (Nigeria) – Financial planning; Yoco (South Africa) – Payments.

For the 2024 edition, the editors at CNBC selected outstanding organisations from each individual market segment for their newsworthiness.

The news channel said fueled by technological advancements, expanding global markets, and collaborative leadership, companies are shaping the future of financial services.

“This year’s report identified fintech companies spanning eight categories. The list is based on analysis and weighting of overarching general KPIs and segment specific KPIs focused on the individual categories,” CNBC noted.

Flutterwave has been playing a pivotal role in enabling global multinationals such as Uber, to expand seamlessly into markets in Africa.

The leading payments technology firm facilitates remittances from the African diaspora worldwide, supporting family, business, and other needs.

The Milken Institute recently appointed Flutterwave to its Africa Leaders Business Council, comprising thought leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and experts from business, technology, finance, and innovation.
