First Lady Tinubu Supports Oshoala As Player Receives 2023 Ballon d’Or Award Nominee


 

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her congratulations to Nigerian forward and Barcelona Femeni striker, Asisat Oshoala, as she receives a well-deserved nomination for the highly coveted 2023 Ballon d’Or Award.

In recognition of Oshoala’s remarkable contributions to the world of football, both in Nigeria and in her current professional career in Spain, the First Lady expressed immense pride in her accomplishments.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the First Lady on Tuesday, Mrs. Tinubu praised Oshoala’s talent and commitment, which have enhanced the appeal of the game.

“Her Excellency hopes that this year, once again, Asisat Oshoala will bring great honor to our beloved country, Nigeria, by winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or Award for this year. The announcement of the winner is scheduled for September 6, 2023, and the anticipation continues to build. The First Lady also aspires for Oshoala’s exceptional skills and outstanding performances to inspire and motivate young people, especially young girls, to take an interest in the sport of soccer.

“It is important to note that Oshoala has already secured the title of African Women’s Footballer of the Year five consecutive times, as well as the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award, and numerous other esteemed accolades.
