First case of coronavirus confirmed in South Africa

South Africa has reported its first case of coronavirus. According to the country’s Health Minister, Dr. Zweli Mkhize, a 38-year-old man tested positive for the virus in KwaZulu-Natal after returning from Italy with his wife. The man had shown symptoms upon his return on 1 March and was isolated for testing. The National Institute for Communicable Diseases confirmed the case and stated that the couple also has two children. The authorities have identified and isolated contacts and deployed a team to KwaZulu-Natal for further investigation.
