Fire killed five, property worth N15m destroyed in June

No fewer than five persons lost their lives in various fire disasters recorded by the Kano Fire Service in the outgoing month of June 2024 in Kano State.

Confirming the numerous infernos, which occurred at different times in some areas of the state, the spokesperson for the Kano Fire Service, PFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the Fire Service received 23 fire calls in the outgoing month of June under review, including four alarm calls from different areas of the state.

“Under the leadership of the Director,  Alhaji Hassan Muhammad in the month of June 2024, under review, the fire service received emergency calls from our 32 fire stations spread across the state,  we received fire calls, rescue calls and false alarms.”

The PRO in the statement further enumerated the number of calls, stating, “We received 23 fire calls in June 2024. We received 12 emergency calls. We got 4 false alarm calls from different places.

“The estimated property destroyed by fire incidents in the month of June. was valued at N15,650,000, while the estimated property saved by the agency’s personnel is valued at N46,700,000.

“I will use this opportunity to draw the attention of the general public to handle fire with care to avoid fire incidents.

“All motorists are urged to drive with care, as well as abide by the traffic rules and regulations to avoid road accidents,” the statement added.
