Fire guts Idumota Market in Lagos, LASEMA confirms

The confirmation by LASEMA of a fire outbreak at Idumota Market in Lagos has been made public. The incident saw several shops being ravaged by flames at Ebute Ero market in Lagos Island. The fire has since been controlled by the Emergency Responders at the scene, with no reported casualties. The Director-General of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, reported that a combined team of responders successfully curtailed the flames which affected the top floor of the building housing five shops. Nosa Okunboru, Head of Public Affairs at LASEMA, emphasized that there were no reported injuries due to the fire, and it has been fully extinguished, affecting only the top floor of the building. Operations were carried out by the LASEMA Response Team along with the Lagos State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service, supported by members of the Nigerian Police Force.
