FG slashes visa fees for U.S citizens

The Nigerian government has recently revised its visa reciprocity policy for the United States, leading to a reduction in visa application fees for U.S. citizens. The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Muhammad Babandede, confirmed that the visa application charges for American citizens have been decreased from $180 to $160. This information was conveyed in a memo marked NIS/HQ/CGI/806/7 and addressed to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The directive instructs all Nigerian missions to immediately implement the new visa charges and discontinue the previous fee structure, which included $160 as the visa fee and $20 as “processing and expedient fees.” It is important to note that this adjustment comes after the U.S. government had previously imposed additional visa fees on Nigerian citizens in response to an earlier increase in visa fees for U.S. citizens by the Nigerian government.
