FG reacts to Transparency International's new ranking of Nigeria being the most corrupt country in West Africa

The latest ranking of Nigeria as the most corrupt country in West Africa by Transparency International has been met with a reaction from the Federal Government. According to the government, there is no evidence to support these claims. The recent corruption perception index placed Nigeria at 146 out of 180 countries in 2019. Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, dismissed the report, stating that the government’s commitment to fighting corruption is steadfast and not influenced by external ratings. He affirmed that efforts to combat corruption will continue and be intensified.
