FG launches mobile app for sending crime alerts to security agencies

The launch of a mobile app for sending crime alerts to security agencies was announced by the federal government. The interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, emphasized the potential of the app in preventing attacks through real-time communication with security agencies. He expressed optimism about the app bridging the communication gap between Nigerians and security agencies. Aregbesola also highlighted that the app is free for Nigerians and can be downloaded from the Android or iOS playstore. The minister stressed the importance of timely information and alerts for preventing and mitigating crimes, security breaches, and natural disasters. He mentioned that the app is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s focus on the security of Nigerians and the use of ICT in government operations. The app integrates audio-visual and geospatial location identification for real-time alerts to security agencies and joint inter-agency operations.
