Federal Government to Tackle Flooding in Jigawa, According to Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has made a commitment that the federal government will soon address the issue of flooding in Jigawa State due to its adverse impact on agriculture and food production.

This was announced by Shettima during a visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, by a delegation from the Hadeija Emirate Council, led by the Emir of Hadeija and chairman of the Jigawa State Traditional Council, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje.

“I want to convey President Bola Tinubu’s message that the challenges in your region will be adequately addressed in the upcoming budget,” he stated.

In a statement from his media office, he reiterated the importance of peace in achieving meaningful development in the country.

Emphasizing the significance of peace for national development, Shettima stated that peace is a crucial prerequisite for national progress. He also highlighted that Kano and Jigawa States have remained largely peaceful and are “oases of peace in an endless sea of poverty, insecurity, and depravity.”

The vice president commended the Hadeija Emirate Council for their strong support of the Tinubu/Shettima Administration, adding that “when we went to Hadeija, we were not in power, but His Royal Highness unequivocally supported us. It was tremendous support based on the fact that our team was the best for the nation.”

Vice President Shettima praised the Hadeija Emirate for its development efforts and shared, “when I traveled from Kano to Hadeija, it was one of my happiest moments. I witnessed the progress, the establishment of universities, the rice mill by Aliko Dangote, and various other development initiatives.”

Earlier, the emir congratulated Tinubu and Shettima on their inauguration and promised continuous support for the government. Expressing gratitude to the vice president for appointing one of their sons as the deputy chief of staff to the president, he prayed for divine guidance and direction for the new Administration.
