Federal Government’s Initiative: Installation of Power Plants in Six Federal Universities

Efforts by the Federal Government, facilitated through the Rural Electrification Agency, have led to the installation of power plants in six federal universities. The aim is to provide reliable power supply to critical sectors of society.

A recent briefing by the agency’s Managing Director, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, highlighted the significant progress made in advancing electrification projects in Nigeria.

The universities that have benefited from these installations include the University of Abuja, University of Maiduguri, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Umudike, Federal University Gashua in Yobe, Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, and the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.

The Ministry of Finance’s statement emphasized the transformative impact of REA’s initiatives on communities nationwide.
