NSCDC Arrests Nine Individuals for Various Crimes in Abuja

Nine suspects have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, for offenses including robbery, aggravated assault, and attempted murder in the Sabon-Lugbe area of Abuja, according to a statement released by the command Spokesperson, Samuel Idoko, on Thursday.

The arrests were made following a raid carried out by the NSCDC’s Special Tactical Squad, codenamed “Operation Adaka-su,” in response to a distress call reporting a group of hoodlums attacking residents with knives and stealing valuables such as mobile phones and electronic gadgets.

Those arrested include Umar Badamasi (20), Ahmed Rufai (30), Jamilu Abdullahi (45), Jamilu Lawal (20), Mohammed Kabir (57), Abubakar Umar Abdul (27), Aliyu Dodo (20), Faith Rufai (23), and Muhammed Alkasim (26).

During interrogation, Ahmed Rufai confessed that their gang leader was still at large and revealed that the stolen mobile phone was sold for #15,000. Items recovered from the suspects included knives, Indian hemp, a motorcycle, charms, and a machete.

NSCDC’s FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, presented the suspects at the command headquarters and reassured the public of ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining gang members.

Odumosu urged Abuja residents to stay vigilant and collaborate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities in their vicinity.

He emphasized the importance of community involvement in the fight against crime and highlighted the need for timely reporting of suspicious individuals and movements to enhance security efforts in the FCT.

NSCDC remains committed to combating insecurity in the FCT through increased surveillance and regular patrols, with a stern warning to criminals in the capital to either reform or face legal consequences.

Odumosu cautioned criminals that law enforcement would not relent in tracking them down and holding them accountable for their actions.
