FCCPC and EFCC Join Forces to Safeguard Nigerians from Exploitation

Collaboration between the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to be strengthened in order to shield Nigerian consumers from exploitation.

In a recent meeting at the EFCC headquarters, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the FCCPC, Tunji Bello, and the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Olanipekun Olukoyede, reaffirmed their dedication to this cause.

Bello raised concerns about the surge in unjustifiable price hikes and stressed the necessity of a united approach to tackle this issue.

He praised the EFCC’s proficiency in surveillance and investigation and requested their assistance in combating unfair trade practices.

In response, Olukoyede recognized the plight of consumers and pledged the EFCC’s unwavering support to the FCCPC.

He underlined the significance of a robust partnership between the two agencies to establish a level playing field in the Nigerian market for consumers.

Both entities agreed to heighten their collaborative endeavors to safeguard consumer rights and prosecute those involved in economic crimes and unfair market practices.

As a symbol of the strengthened partnership, Olukoyede appointed Bello as an Ambassador to the EFCC.

This development follows closely on the heels of FCCPC’s recent announcement to engage with industry leaders nationwide to combat exploitative pricing of consumer goods, particularly essential food items.
