Fans express optimism for Iheanacho’s success in La Liga

Kelechi Iheanacho, the Super Eagles forward, has received strong support from Nigerian football fans as he embarks on his journey in La Liga with Sevilla, a recent report by PUNCH Sports Extra reveals.

Sevilla officially confirmed his signing on Wednesday after he successfully completed his medical examination the day before.

The 27-year-old, formerly of Leicester City, signed a two-year contract with the Andalusian club after his previous deal with the Foxes ended at the conclusion of the last season.

During his time with Leicester, Iheanacho had a limited role, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 26 appearances as they competed in the English Premier League. However, he is now set to wear Sevilla’s white kit for the 2024/25 season.

In response to his move to Spain, fans of the 2013 FIFA U-17 Golden Boy award winner expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the Spanish league.

One fan, Mr. Xperience, commented, “Expect him to outshine Ferran Torres, Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal. The second-best attacker in La Liga has just arrived after Kylian Mbappe.”

Another fan, Ayodeji, added, “Senior man will illuminate your farmer’s league.”

Stretch also said, “Senior man Kelechi is ready to dazzle in La Liga.”

“Senior Man, please spare my team, Real Madrid, from your goals,” MalamBuba pleaded.

Ethan tweeted, “We all recognize the talent Iheanacho possesses, and it is surprising that he struggled in the Premier League. La Liga focuses on technique, and I have no doubt he will perform exceptionally well there. Congratulations, Senior Man Kel.”

“Whoever facilitated this move for Kelechi has done him a huge favor because I believe he has now entered a league where his skills will truly shine through. I am confident he will thrive in Spain,” expressed Temitope Usman.

Iheanacho joins his compatriot Chidera Ejuke at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium as Sevilla aims to bounce back from a disappointing 2023/24 season where they finished 14th in the standings.
