Tom’s father, John Alan Luginbill, is a football coach born on November 13, 1946. Beginning his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Pasadena City College, he later became head coach in 1977 and guided PCC to the Jr. Rose Bowl and National Championship. He started his college career with the Arizona State Sun Devils and served as an assistant coach at Arizona State University. Additionally, he worked as head coach and general manager of the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League in 2003. Al Luginbill is married to Susan and is the father of twins Tom and Kerry.
