Expert advice: Financial smarts and a healthy lifestyle are the keys to a successful marriage

According to Pastor Bisi Adewale, the President of Africa’s renowned marriage institute, the College of Marital Success, maintaining financial intelligence and a healthy lifestyle are crucial for a happy home and successful marriage.

During the induction ceremony of former Surveyor General and Permanent Secretary in Ogun State civil service, Mrs. Aderonke Adeyokunnu as Matron and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, and Banji Akinhanmi as Patron of the association, Adewale emphasized the significance of these two factors, especially in challenging economic times.

The event took place at the second edition of the Surveyors’ Wives Association of Nigeria Public Lecture themed “The Survival of The Home At All Times Especially In An Ailing Economy,” held at NIS Multipurpose Hall in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.

In today’s tough economic climate, Adewale stressed the need for couples to focus on specific areas to ensure the longevity and happiness of their marriages.

“Couples must acquire financial intelligence beyond their salaries,” Adewale stated, underscoring the importance of managing and growing money wisely.

He further added that adapting lifestyles to fit within financial means is key to stability in marriage, instead of living beyond one’s earnings.

Besides financial acumen, Adewale highlighted the significance of maintaining good health through proper nutrition, hydration, and ample rest.

He emphasized that good health not only benefits personal well-being but also strengthens the marital bond.

Addressing the importance of a strong and united marriage, Adewale remarked that resilience during tough times is supported by a cohesive partnership.

By emphasizing the role of money management in relationships, Adewale advised couples to handle finances wisely to avoid unnecessary strain.

“Integrating financial management, health maintenance, and marital unity helps couples navigate the challenges of the current economic landscape, fostering a successful and enduring marriage,” he concluded.

Oluwakemi Oluwafemi, Chairperson of SWAN, Ogun State Chapter, urged women to view themselves as the essential elements that keep the family functioning smoothly, particularly in today’s global economic situation.

“Both spouses and children should strategically plan within the available resources and adjust budgets to match income levels,” she emphasized.
