Exciting Event in Kano: Sports Minister to Inaugurate SWAN Full Council Meeting

John Eno, the Sports Minister, will be officially opening the upcoming Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) full Council Meeting in Kano on May 2, 2024.

Abdulgafar Oladimeji, the Chairman of the National Mobilization Committee and Secretary of SWAN Kano Council, unveiled the preparations for the event during a media briefing on Sunday. This conference, the first of its kind under the leadership of National President Benjamin Isaiah, is highly anticipated.

The National Full Council Meeting of SWAN, as emphasized by Oladimeji, is a crucial requirement for the association. The gathering will host 130 delegates, including 17 NEC members, former presidents, state chairmen, secretaries, and ex officio members of SWAN, all expected to join the discussions.

According to Oladimeji, the focus of the meeting will be on addressing challenges, evaluating progress, and proposing effective solutions. This event marks the inaugural gathering under the current National Executive of SWAN, with key discussions revolving around restructuring for enhanced revenue generation to support the association.

Furthermore, the meeting aims to review and deliberate on the status of members who have been suspended and potential patrons of the association. Additionally, national awards will be presented to notable individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation, including the Sports Minister, John Eno, Kano State Commissioner for Information Baba Dantiye, former NFA Chairman Ibrahim Galadima, and Isiyaku Umar Tofa.
