Ex-Oyo deputy gov residence, others damaged in Ibadan explosion

An explosion in Ibadan has caused damage to the residence of former Oyo deputy governor, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, and others. The incident has displaced several residents including Chief Oladokun, who is now being accommodated by a relative. His storey building near Dejo Oyelese Street was badly affected and there are concerns about the building’s foundation. The property of the late Chief Bola Ige was also impacted with shattered windows. The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the explosion and ongoing rescue efforts. Other affected residents include Oba Kola Adegbola, Comrade Kunle Famoriyo, actress Bimbo Osin, Bola Okanlawon, and others. The state government has deployed security service chiefs and fire operatives to manage the situation, and the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, visited the scene of the explosion. The cause of the blast is currently under investigation.
