Europe now epicentre of coronavirus pandemic – World Health Organization

The World Health Organization has issued a warning, declaring Europe as the new “epicentre” of the global coronavirus pandemic. During a news conference in Geneva on Friday, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted that Europe has reported more COVID-19 infections and deaths than the combined total of other countries, excluding China. Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus informed reporters that Europe is witnessing a daily increase in reported cases, with the death toll reaching a tragic milestone of 5,000. The global death toll of the pandemic has now reached nearly 5,000, with over 132,000 confirmed cases worldwide. The UN’s health agency reported that approximately 68,000 individuals have recovered from the virus.
