Euro 2024: UEFA take decision on banning Bellingham, Rice ahead of Switzerland clash

UEFA have decided not to ban the England duo of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice following their dramatic 2-1 win over Slovakia at Euro 2024 on Sunday.

The governing body have reviewed the report from match officials and have instead opened disciplinary proceedings against the Three Lions for the lighting of fireworks and crowd disturbances.

Bellingham, who scored for 1-1, appeared to have made a lewd gesture towards the Slovakia bench.

Rice was also embroiled in a spat with opposition boss, Francesco Calzona.

But they have both been let off the hook.

A UEFA spokesperson told Mirror Football: “Following the review of the officials’ reports for ENG-SVK match, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the English Football Association for lighting of fireworks and crowd disturbances.

“The CEDB will take a decision on this case in due course. No further proceedings were opened from this match.”
