EPL: They didn’t follow instructions – Ten Hag slams five Man Utd players

Ten Hag Criticizes Manchester United Players for Ignoring Instructions

Following Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, manager Erik ten Hag expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance, specifically calling out five players.

In a bid to secure a spot in European competition, the Red Devils stumbled at Selhurst Park, with their troubles starting early with a defensive lapse leading to Palace’s opening goal.

Michael Olise capitalized on the opportunity, smoothly evading challenges from Christian Eriksen and Casemiro before finding the back of the net past goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Ten Hag, in his post-match assessment, did not mince words, faulting the quintet for their failure to adhere to defensive instructions and adjust to the flow of the game.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ten Hag said, “The first goal from the throw-in should not have happened as it was a breakdown in our collective adherence to instructions. We were unable to react appropriately to various scenarios and maintain control. Having five players present during the throw-in and conceding is unacceptable.”

He continued, “We had clearly outlined how to defend in such situations, but unfortunately, the players did not execute it on the field, resulting in a heavy defeat for us.”
