Manchester United Warned by Neville Against Hasty Decisions on Ten Hag

Speculation surrounding the future of Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has prompted club legend Gary Neville to caution the Red Devils. Neville highlighted three potential managerial replacements he believes are not suitable for the Old Trafford hot seat.

As the season nears its end, the pressure on Ten Hag increases to convince the United hierarchy to retain him following a disappointing campaign.

Despite a promising start resulting in a third-place finish and a League Cup victory, United have struggled this season, currently outside the Premier League’s top four and exiting the Champions League early.

Amid talks of change, with input from minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, names like Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter, and Gary O’Neil have been linked to the managerial position at Manchester United.

Neville, however, expressed doubts about the potential candidates and instead favored Ten Hag’s continuity and past performance.

“I would prefer to see him stay as I am unsure about the available options at the moment,” Neville shared on The Overlap.

“If Jurgen Klopp were available or if we could recruit a top-tier manager, the situation might be different. But considering the current options, we might end up with someone of lesser quality than Erik ten Hag, lacking his experience,” he added.

“Ten Hag has spent two years at Old Trafford now. Having experienced a successful first season followed by a challenging one, he should have learned from it,” Neville continued.

“Therefore, I am not in favor of him leaving and United bringing in the suggested names. It doesn’t sit right with me. I believe in sticking with Erik ten Hag,” Neville concluded.
