EPL: Man City will be relegated if found guilty of 115 financial charges – Borson

The former financial advisor of Manchester City, Stefan Borson, has acknowledged that the club could face relegation from the Premier League if found guilty of the 115 charges against them. City is currently under scrutiny for alleged financial misconduct spanning from 2009 to 2018 and has been accused of failing to cooperate with the ensuing investigations.

The club has refuted these claims, and the Premier League’s chief executive, Richard Masters, has confirmed that a hearing date has been scheduled. Borson speculated on talkSPORT that the implications of the charges for City could be severe, asserting that “the scale is on a completely different level.” He further emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that “there can be no question that this will end in at least relegation – that’s no question if those charges are proven.”

Furthermore, there are implications of conspiracy over a decade-long period, with the Premier League alleging that City’s main sponsorship agreements were misrepresented. According to Borson, the league contends that these agreements were not valued at £50-60 million, as claimed by City, but rather at £8 million, suggesting that the entire arrangement was a facade.
