Within the vibrant entertainment industry, numerous talented individuals thrive. Many of these personalities possess multiple talents and are involved in various facets of the industry. Saturday Beats has chosen to highlight some of these versatile entertainers.

Nasboi

Lawal Nasiru, also known as Nasboi, gained recognition for his comedy skits, initially rising to fame through his impressions of pop star Davido.

In November 24, 2023, he ventured into music with the release of the song ‘Umbrella’, featuring Wande Coal. Nasboi successfully utilized his skit-making expertise to orchestrate an extensive promotional campaign for the song, involving other skit makers and celebrities.

Broda Shaggi

Samuel Perry, also known as Broda Shaggi, is a multi-talented individual involved in acting, drawing, dancing, and singing.

He initially gained prominence as a skit maker and quickly amassed a substantial fanbase. In addition to his skits, he has ventured into acting, featuring in movies such as ‘Chief Daddy’, ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’, and ‘A Bag of Trouble’.

He has also been releasing music, with his latest track ‘Ijo Loka’ featuring popular fuji artiste, Pasuma, released on December 8, 2023.

Basketmouth

Renowned comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has made a significant impact in the comedy industry. Although he began as a stand-up comedian, he has expanded his involvement to include music, TV series, and films.

Basketmouth has emphasized that his journey in the entertainment industry commenced with music, even forming rap groups—Da Psychophats and Da Oddz. He has also made appearances in TV series and films such as ‘My Flatmates’ and ‘Brotherhood’.

On January 3, 2024, he announced the impending release of his first feature film, which he directed and produced, titled ‘A Ghetto Love Story’. The movie features a talented ensemble including Akah Nnani, Beverly Osu, Wale Ojo, Patience Ozokwor, Nkem Owoh, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, and Etim Effiong.

In an Instagram post, Basketmouth expressed, “Our first feature length film is coming soon to a screen near you. It’s an incredible love story featuring a plethora of talents ready to dazzle you. Kindly anticipate it.”

Saga

Adeoluwa Okusaga, popularly known as Saga, gained prominence through his participation in Big Brother Naija in 2021, subsequently showcasing his artistic talents. He recently held an exhibition featuring his artworks and has also ventured into acting, featuring in a movie.

Peter Okoye

As one half of the pop group P-Square, Peter Okoye has established himself in the music industry. He displayed his acting abilities in the popular movie series ‘Shanty Town’, portraying the character of Femi.

Mr Macaroni

Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, is a prominent content creator recognized for his portrayal of a sugar daddy character in his comedy skits. In a previous interview with Saturday Beats, Macaroni revealed his acting experience predating his skit-making endeavors. He later returned to acting in 2021, appearing in a comic movie based on the 2016 MMM Ponzi scheme, titled Ponzi. His stature has continued to grow as both an actor and content creator, earning numerous accolades in the Nigerian comedy content creation sphere.

He is also acclaimed for his human rights activism.

Carter Efe

Oderhohwo Joseph, popularly known as Carter Efe, gained visibility through his comedic skits on social media. In 2022, he collaborated with singer Berri Tiga on the song ‘Machala’. However, he faced criticism over the allocation of royalties, as his vocals reportedly did not feature on the track, despite claims of receiving a significant share of the earnings. The song entered the Afrobeats charts at number 14 and secured the top positions on Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 and TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 upon its debut.

Recently, he courted controversy with a post announcing his upcoming song, ‘BabyPiano’. Subsequently, he stated that he would not release the song in response to the criticism it generated.

Banky W

Bankole Wellington, known as Banky W, has made a mark in the music industry with his melodious vocals. He has released hit songs such as ‘Lagos Party’, ‘Strong Thing’, ‘Yes/No’, and ‘Heaven’.

Additionally, he co-founded the record label Empire Mates Entertainment, which boasted artists like Wizkid and Skales.

He has also ventured into acting, appearing in films like ‘Wedding Party’ 1 and 2, ‘Up North’, and ‘Sugar Rush’.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, he contested the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, albeit without success.

He is also known for his devout Christian faith, with many regarding him as a preacher.

Falz

Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, is a lawyer, actor, and singer who rose to prominence through his musical prowess. During his secondary school years, he formed a group called ‘The School Boys’. In 2009, he released his debut single, ‘High Class’, and has since garnered accolades for his musical talent.

He has also delved into acting, featuring in movies like ‘Chief Daddy’, ‘New Money’, ‘Merry Men’, ‘Quam’s Money’, and ‘Brotherhood’.

Reminisce

Remilekun Safaru, known as Reminisce and Alaga Ibile, is a singer, rapper, songwriter, and actor. Despite commencing his career as a rapper and songwriter, he demonstrated his acting prowess in the renowned movie ‘King of Boys’, directed by Kemi Adetiba. He portrayed the character of ‘Makanaki’, a notorious gangster feared for his ruthlessness.

Omawumi

Omawumi Megbele is a singer, songwriter, and actress who gained prominence as the first runner-up on the reality show West African Idols. She launched her debut single ‘In the Music’ in 2009, followed by her album ‘Wonder Woman’ on November 11, 2009.

She made her acting debut in 2010 in the musical drama ‘Inale’. In 2019, she expanded into movie production, co-producing a movie titled ‘She Is’ in collaboration with her fellow artist and friend, Waje. She has also featured in films like ‘Night Bus to Lagos’, ‘Oloture’, ‘House of Gold’, and ‘Palava’.
