England vs Slovenia in Euro 2024: Gary Neville’s Predictions on Southgate’s Tactical Changes

In the upcoming Euro 2024 clash against Slovenia, former Manchester United captain Gary Neville foresees England manager Gareth Southgate making two key adjustments to the starting lineup.

With one foot already in the knockout phase, the Three Lions will face their final Group C match on Tuesday, currently leading the group with four points.

Despite their strong position, England has faced criticism for their performances against Serbia and Denmark, where Southgate opted for the same starting line-ups.

Neville suggests changes are imminent, particularly in the midfield and forward positions to inject fresh energy.

According to Neville on ITV, “There will definitely be a change. He’ll shake things up, it’s necessary. He mentioned the need for a partner for Rice in midfield and pace upfront alongside Kane.”

“Players like Gordon and Mainoo could be the answer. Declan Rice needs a midfield partner who can contribute to playing from the back.”

Discussing the need for pace, Neville added, “The pace aspect is crucial, it’s been a topic of discussion for a few days now. Perhaps he might even disrupt enough to revert to a three-man defense, a strategy he has employed in previous tournaments.”
