Emir of Kano, Sanusi, Speaks on Reinstatement and Justice

Reflecting on his recent reinstatement by the state government, the 26th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, characterized it as a vital act of justice countering past injustices.

Following the deposition of the 15th Emir, Aminu Bayero, Governor Abba Yusuf restored Sanusi to his position as Emir of Kano on Friday.

This decision came after the Kano State House of Assembly deliberated on the Kano State Emirate Council Amendment Bill, ultimately repealing the 2019 Law that facilitated the establishment of five distinct emirates from the original Kano Emirates.

Despite legal challenges initially hindering Sanusi’s reinstatement, the enstoolment proceeded.

However, during a meeting with security chiefs the following day, Sanusi expressed unfamiliarity with the specific court order regarding the matter.

According to a source present at the meeting, Sanusi addressed the attendees for over an hour, emphasizing that the state government’s action represented a form of retribution for the injustices he had previously endured.

“He indicated that he had not personally seen the purported court order being referenced, dismissing it as a product of media speculation until he had a chance to review it,” the source disclosed to Daily Trust.
