El-Kanemi Warriors were welcomed by a huge crowd in Maiduguri on arrival from Lagos, where they won the President Federation Cup.
The Borno Army defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final of the tournament at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Wednesday.
The Borno State sports commissioner, Buba Sainna, led residents in celebrating the team’s victory.
The celebration train moved through major landmarks such as the Post Office Roundabout, Shehu’s Palace Roundabout, Lawan Bukar, Galadima Junction, Custom Flyover, Gwange, Tashan Bama and University of Maiduguri, Lagos Street.
Sainna emphasized the need for a low-key celebration due to recent unfortunate events in the state.
He stated that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum would formally receive the team on a later date.
El-Kanemi Warriors will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
