Ekosin Ruling House Protests Alleged Imposition of Candidate in Osun Obaship Tussle

Rejecting the selection of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin of Ekosin, ruling houses in Ekosin town, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, have made their stance known.

During a press conference in Osogbo led by Kayode Asa, the spokesperson for the Nyanbilolu Ruling House, it was emphasized that Olagunju is considered an impostor and is not affiliated with any ruling house in the town.

The ruling houses also accused appointees of the Ademola Adeleke administration of abusing power and office recklessly and flagrantly, showing a disregard for the rule of law.

Asa alleged that state government appointees had clandestinely appointed Olagunju as Akosin and listed their demands, emphasizing the importance of peace and development in the town.

Some of the demands include the immediate withdrawal of the presentation of instruments of office to Kazali Olagunju, respect for ongoing judicial processes, and ceasing to recognize Olagunju as Akosin until a court ruling is made.

Highlighting their opposition to Olagunju’s appointment, Asa pointed out that such a decision would set a negative precedent for future generations.

Members of the ruling houses in Ekosin had previously protested at the council secretariat following the alleged presentation of a staff of office to Olagunju on June 11, 2024.

Asa revealed that the ruling house took action after being misled by government officials who denied imposing a candidate for the Akosin title on them.

Labeling the selection process as illegal, Asa mentioned that there is no evidence of Olagunju’s ratification as Akosin in any State Executive Council Meeting reports.

Implying that this incident was unfolding without their prior knowledge, Asa raised questions about the transparency of the process.

Furthermore, they called upon Governor Adeleke to avoid overstepping the boundaries of the judiciary.
