Ekiti State Allocates N4.15bn for Road Construction, Agriculture, and More

The Executive Council of Ekiti State has given the green light for the allocation of N4.15 billion towards various projects, including road rehabilitation, the renovation of the House of Assembly complex, agricultural initiatives, and construction of hostels.

In a statement released in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, revealed the approvals made by the SEC on August 26.

One of the key approvals was a contract worth N2.71 billion awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for the rehabilitation of the De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti, aimed at ensuring better road conditions and reducing congestion in the area.

This project is slated to be completed within 12 months to enhance the quality of life for residents and improve economic activities in the region.

Olatunbosun mentioned that the SEC also approved N701 million for the comprehensive renovation and remodeling of the State House of Assembly Complex and the House of Assembly Service Commission building.

The contract was awarded to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited and is expected to be completed within 12 weeks to modernize these structures and provide a conducive environment for legislative functions.

Furthermore, the state government allocated N229 million for the procurement of tractors and farm machinery to enhance agricultural productivity in the state, showcasing its commitment to empowering farmers.

The contract awarded to AGCOMS International Trading Limited is set to be concluded in four weeks, providing essential equipment to support farmers along the value chain.

In a bid to support youth involvement in agriculture, the state government approved N177.9 million for land clearing in specified local government areas, aiming to empower young farmers and boost production.

Additionally, an agreement was ratified for a N329.4 million contract to construct a 100-bed capacity hostel at the Command Secondary School, Isan Ekiti, ensuring better boarding facilities and academic continuity.

This hostel construction project, set to be completed in 12 weeks, follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Nigerian Army to facilitate academic activities at the school,” as mentioned by the commissioner.
