Ekiti Government Offers Hope in the Midst of Economic Crisis

Assurances have been given by the Ekiti State Government that the hardships caused by the steep rise in prices of food and other essential items will soon ease.

In a message of optimism, the government stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to implementing necessary economic and political measures to alleviate the struggles of Nigerians. This includes the introduction of long-term and immediate policies aimed at strengthening the economy and restoring normalcy.

Despite the economic challenges and resulting discomfort, citizens are encouraged by the government to maintain personal and environmental hygiene for better well-being and longevity.

Speaking during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Ekiti West Local Government and Okemesi/Ido Ile Local Council Development Area, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, expressed confidence in Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his team in finding innovative solutions to mitigate the impact of hyper-inflation on Ekiti residents.

She revealed that the allocation of N331 million for local governments to procure relief materials and the establishment of a Price Control and Regulation Committee underscore the government’s commitment to addressing the prevailing challenges effectively.

“We urge for patience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is relatively new in office. With the help of God and your support, these difficulties will soon be a thing of the past,” Afuye reassured.

Emphasizing the government’s focus on environmental sanitation, Afuye reiterated their dedication to averting disease outbreaks due to negligence among citizens.

Despite the economic turmoil, the government emphasized the importance of upholding cleanliness as a means to reduce illness and mortality rates.

“Good health is paramount. Let us collaborate to ensure Ekiti remains clean. Times may be tough, but they will improve soon,” she assured.

Obaleye, at the Palace of Olojudo of Ido Ile, commended Oyebanji for spearheading economic and infrastructural advancements in Ekiti, pledging ongoing community support to safeguard the residents’ health.

Accompanying the Deputy Governor were Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Opeyemi, alongside other high-ranking government officials.
