Ejimakor, lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, refutes reports of escape from DSS detention

On Friday, Aloy Ejimakor, the main legal representative for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), dismissed claims that the activist had fled from his confinement at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja.

In response to the allegations of Kanu’s escape, Ejimakor stated in an interview with NewsNow, “It’s not true. I will be seeing him today at 2:00 pm. Kanu is a responsible and brave advocate for freedom, determined to remain and challenge the injustices within the system, not evade them. He is too prominent to even think of escaping.”

Attempts by NewsNow to contact DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya were unsuccessful, as calls were unanswered and text messages went unresponded.

Reports had surfaced that the IPOB leader had absconded from DSS custody along with his case documents on the preceding day.

The report, with the headline ‘Breaking news: Nnamdi Kanu escapes from DSS custody with case file’, stated, “According to credible sources, Kanu’s escape was orchestrated with detailed planning and precision, catching the authorities off guard.

“Specifics of the escape remain unclear, with speculations ranging from internal aid to external backing.”
