EFCC Chairman, Olukoyede: Yahaya Bello insisted on being interrogated in his village

In Abuja, during a press briefing, Ola Olukoyede, the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), disclosed details about his attempt to question Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi, regarding corruption allegations.

Olukoyede shared that Bello had requested EFCC officials to conduct the interrogation in his village instead.

“I contacted Yahaya Bello, urging him to visit my office for clarification as a governor. However, he declined, citing the presence of numerous journalists allegedly planted by a senator,” Olukoyede explained.

Despite offering a discreet entrance for Bello’s visit, the ex-governor insisted that EFCC personnel should travel to his village for the inquiry.

Olukoyede emphasized that the EFCC’s actions were in line with the law regarding Bello’s attempted arrest at his Abuja residence and questioned Bello’s reluctance to cooperate.

He also warned that those impeding Bello’s arrest in Abuja would face legal consequences.
