EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, promises to bring Alison-Madueke back to Nigeria for trial

The Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has declared that the anti-graft agency will ensure the repatriation of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to Nigeria to face criminal charges against her.

Magu made this vow during his visit to the Commission’s Ibadan zonal office in Oyo state on Wednesday, January 22nd 2020, and also during his working visit to the Ilorin Zonal Office the day before.

He revealed that the Commission had uncovered a range of criminal activities such as abuse of office, bribery, fraud, misuse of public funds, and money laundering linked to the former minister, who is currently evading questioning on alleged criminal activities during her tenure as a government minister in Nigeria.

Expressing bewilderment at the fact that her current country of residence has not extradited her to Nigeria to face justice, Magu affirmed that the EFCC is committed to ensuring her prosecution this year.

Diezani, who served as Minister of Petroleum Resources during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, faces allegations of financial impropriety during her time in office and currently resides in the United Kingdom.
