The Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has brought charges against one Iyonsi Timeyin Timothy before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos. Timothy faces a two-count charge related to possession of fraudulent documents and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of $4,500.
According to the charges, Timothy is accused of obtaining $4,500 from one Julia Zagorski under false pretenses of a “romance scam” in September 2019. The prosecution counsel, K. Uduak, requested a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded in Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) facility after Timothy pleaded not guilty to the charges.
