EFCC Apprehends Nine Individuals for Internet Fraud in Abuja

Nine individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud have been captured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja.

Following a well-coordinated intelligence operation by the Commission’s Abuja Zonal Directorate, the suspects were detained on Monday in the Wuye district of Abuja.

According to a statement from the EFCC released on Tuesday through X, it was stated, “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Directorate operatives have apprehended nine alleged internet fraudsters.

“Their arrest occurred on Monday, 29th July 2024, in the Wuye area of Abuja based on credible intelligence of their involvement in internet-related fraudulent activities.”

Upon the operation, various items were confiscated from the suspects.

The statement mentioned, “Among the items seized were 19 phones, one car, four laptops, and an iPad.”

The Commission also expressed its determination to proceed with legal actions against the suspects, affirming, “The accused will face court charges once the investigations are completed.”
