EFCC admits it made a mistake in Maina's case, apologizes to court

The EFCC acknowledged its mistake in Maina’s case and apologized to the court for the error. The admission was made on Tuesday January 21, as the EFCC operative, Mohammed Goji, admitted that an in-depth investigation was not conducted into the PRTT. This became apparent during questioning by Maina’s son’s lawyer, Adeola Adedipe.

Goji also acknowledged that the charge against the defendant was based on the agency’s investigation, but later admitted an error in the account number provided as evidence. When confronted with discrepancies, Goji apologized to the court, stating that it was not his intention to lie.

The case has been adjourned until January 29 for further cross-examination by Justice Okon Abang.
