Edwin Clark Urges Tinubu to Release Nnamdi Kanu Similar to Miyetti Allah Leader

In an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, Edwin Clark, the convener of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has called on him to instruct the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, to withdraw all charges against Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Clark emphasized the need for President Tinubu to exercise his executive authority to release Kanu, drawing a parallel to the case of Abdullahi Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah, where charges were dropped.

Reflecting on the state of the country, Clark highlighted various challenges such as a failing economy, a deteriorating democracy, collapsing education and health systems, rampant unemployment, and growing insecurity. He expressed concerns over the repercussions if the current situation is left unchecked.

Stressing the importance of equitable treatment across all regions of Nigeria, Clark asserted that no one should have undue influence over the country and that each section should be regarded equally. He believed that releasing Kanu would help quell the unrest in the South-East and restore peace nationwide.

Clark also advocated for the reintegration of the Igbos into Nigerian politics to ensure fairness among all regions, emphasizing the need for their full inclusion and equality within the country.

“It is vital to swiftly reintegrate the Igbos into the national political landscape, ensuring that their region is on par with others in all aspects. This unity is essential for a harmonious Nigeria,” stated Clark.
