Edo Queens Champions League Pursuit Supported by Obaseki

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has encouraged the state-sponsored women’s team and Nigeria Women Football League Champions, Edo Queens, to secure the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League ticket in their upcoming match against Ghana’s Hasaacas in Ivory Coast today.

Edo Queens had a strong start in the regional qualifiers, defeating A.O Etincelle of Burkina Faso 5-0 in their opening match.

The NWFL champions aim to maintain their winning streak against the Ghanaian champions to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Obaseki stated, “The team has showcased their excellence as Nigerian champions with a remarkable performance, dominating the field and securing a convincing 5-0 victory in the tournament opener.”

“As you continue this impressive performance, we promise our unwavering support and confidence in your ability to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League in Cairo, Egypt,” Obaseki added.

Edo Queens lead the group with three points, while Hasaacas are in second place after a goalless draw in their first match.

The champion of the competition will earn the WAFU B slot for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

Edo Queens aim to be the third Nigerian team to participate in the tournament introduced in 2021, following Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens.
