Eagles Win 2-0 Against Indomitable Lions and Advance to Quarterfinals to Face Angola in AFCON

Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 victory over Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Ivory Coast. Nigeria will now face Angola on February 2 in the quarter-finals as they strive to claim their fourth continental title, having won previously in 1980, 1994, and 2013.

The highly anticipated match between the old rivals ended with Nigeria comfortably defeating their eastern neighbors in Abidjan.

The Indomitable Lions made the first attempt with an early effort from Moumi Ngamaleu, but it was Nigeria who took the lead with two successful forays into the Cameroonian defense. The Super Eagles’ first goal came in the 36th minute after Victor Osimhen won possession and set up Ademola Lookman for a goal. The pressure continued as Lookman secured his second goal just before the 90th minute.

The result gives the Eagles an advantage over the Indomitable Lions, marking their fourth AFCON win in eight meetings, while Cameroon has three victories and one draw.
