There was a shocking incident on Friday in Warri, Delta State, as an unidentified Sienna car driver attacked and bit off the ear of a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) named Papu Prosper.
The victim narrated that the altercation occurred in the early hours of Friday along Eagle Roundabout by Federal Government College in Warri during a dispute over expired information.
According to Prosper, “We conducted a patrol in Warri, Delta State, where we detained a driver whose vehicle information had run out,” he said, detailing the incident. “My boss instructed me to follow him to our office in Warri to confirm whether his particulars are up to date or not.”
He continued, “While following the man, he said he will kill me, that the VIO has done a lot. So he brought out a dagger and was trying to butcher me into pieces. I struggled to get out of the vehicle as it was on speed. In the process, I fought him, and he bit off my ear.” Prosper revealed that the Sienna driver spat out his ear, which fell on the ground, and fled the scene leaving his vehicle in the custody of VIO.
Thankful for his survival, Prosper called for justice if the perpetrator is apprehended, stating, “I give God all the glory for keeping me alive. And for the man, let the law do what has to be done.”

A Nigerian man shared a video of his encounter with vigilantes who stopped his car on the road and demanded the vehicle’s paperwork. The individual was surprised and questioned their authority to ask for his papers, as they were not police or VIO representatives. In the video, the driver and one of the vigilante group’s members were seen having a minor argument about their roles.
